Out with the old

The last week or so have been the biggest non-event as far as my husband and I are concerned. On Christmas Eve I received from my brother his Christmas present, of a nasty e-mail. So much for the season of goodwill to all men. It obviously does not apply to sisters. The Christmas that we had planned was ruined. Instead of being relaxed and contented I was tense and twitchy. Then to make sure that our Christmas cake was well and truly iced our neighbours have gone away leaving 'home alone' their barking Alsatian dog. On New Year's Eve my mother in law, who has not been well, was admitted to hospital and yesterday was spent travelling down to Northampton and back to see her. We can only hope that things will get better.

Happy New Year to bloggers everywhere.

And the same to you CW! Sounds like things can only get better for you - and I hope they do!

Oh my! Things just have to get better don't they?

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that what has happened is just a blip and 2009 will be your best year ever. :)

Oh dear, that was a bad run of things to happen.
Hoping that you will have a better time of it during 2009.

I had a similar email from a family member (although not openly nasty it was designed to hurt!) and it did . You have my sympathy!!

Happy New Year to you too CW. So sorry about your Christmas being ruined though. As the others have commented - the only way now is up!

Hope your MIL is improving.

Best wishes for 2009.

We can cope with the wrong Turkey, soggy potatoes, freezing rain or the wrong gifts, but hard to put aside the snide remark, the hurtful phrase. They rest like heavy pastry and repeat on us through the day.

Please may you brand new year bring improvements in every aspect.

Moannie - your comment is so true!

So sorry it has not been a happy festive season. Sometimes it goes that way. The nasty e mail sounds unnecesary though.

Who knows why people can be cruel, or thoughtless, and what is happening in their own lives, that they feel the need to hurt others ?

Just dust yourself off, and start the New Year with a positive attitude. Onwards and upwards...

From one Cheshire girl to another :)

Come down here! I have the space and I'm sure my kids aren't half as annoying as a constantly barking dog (plus your brother's nastygrams can't reach you in Norfolk!).
I am so sorry your ended on a sour note!

I think Moannie summed it up with the pastry analogy. Ugh. He is clearly a changeling who could not really be the brother of such a nice girl as you. Have a happy year, and click your fingers in the face of such puerility.

My dear friend, I am hopeful that your 2009 is going to be much improved. Brothers...they can be a bother, try to forgive him, sounds as though he needs a hug...not with your fist, now! I hope your Mother in Law is much recovered, in what ever way the Lord sees her recovery...thinking of you!
hugs
